Financial assistance is available through Embark Credit Union and Job Service for those who qualify.
GREAT FALLS – Great Falls College MSU, in partnership with Bitterroot College UM, will offer a Commercial Drivers License training beginning Oct. 23.
Students will complete two weeks of classroom training followed by one week of field training prior to taking the Department of Transportation CDL test. The classroom training will take place at Great Falls College MSU, 2100 16th Ave. S., Oct. 23 through Nov. 3. The field training, where students will work in large tractor-trailers, will be held at Bitterroot College in Hamilton.
This is the second time GFC MSU has partnered with Bitterroot College UM to offer CDL training. Bitterroot College UM has been offering a CDL program for three years, owns its own tractor trailers and has experienced instructors.
"Bitterroot College has a well-established CDL program," said Heather Palermo, director of Lifelong Learning at GFC MSU. "This partnership allows us to offer high-quality instruction to our students from a well-respected program. The class went so well the first time that we wanted to offer it again."
Cost for the program is $4,800 per student. Financial assistance is available through Embark Credit Union and Job Service for those who qualify.
"This is a great opportunity for people in the Great Falls area to learn a new skill and earn a license that will allow them to qualify for good-paying employment," said Roch Turner, director of Workforce Programs and Development at Bitterroot College UM.
Space is still available. The deadline to register is Oct. 18. For more information on how to register contact Roch Turner at 406.360.8478.
